Why I Got Into Real Estate
Learning more about me!
My name is Ashley Verret and I am a Wife, a Mother and a Realtor. Some of my super basic and ordinary but favorite pastimes are reading and going to the gym. Today I will share why I do what I do and a little more about me personally.
Let's start at the beginning..
I come from a small town, good ole’ Franklin, La. which is also where I met and married my high school sweet heart. Once we married life took us to New Iberia where we have been for over 10 yrs now. We have 2 children Bryce (8) & Madison (4), as well as 2 dogs, Ellie & Deuce. Who all keep me on my toes.
Why I got into Real Estate?
Believe it or not this is a question I get asked quite often, “why did I get into real estate?” I would always say “because of my kids” but never felt like that answer was deep enough. After I got pregnant for Bryce I realized I wanted to stay home with him and I did for quite some time. Pregnancy wasn’t easy for me and I didn’t want to be in and out of jobs once we decided to have more children, something that my husband and I both wanted. Fast forward 5 1/2 years and one more child later (Madison) I finally decided that I was ready! But ready for what? I had no idea what I was ready for. I didn’t want to do something that was a means to an end, the ordinary 8-5 where I would be missing out on school functions. I wanted something that I could be passionate about and not dread going to work. My Husbands Aunt is a realtor and after much thought and consideration it began. It started with a phone call and has been history ever since…. So long short story, I decided to get into real estate for my family and what a wonderful decision it has been.
What I really got was…
What I didn’t realize going into this was how much I would absolutely love it! I love meeting new people and getting to see all types of different homes, negotiating contracts and helping people get what they want or need at the time. Through the process I’m able to get to know my clients who turn out to be some of the best people I have ever met. I am also able to offer my knowledge and input on more than just real estate to help my clients throughout the entire process. The most rewarding part of my job as a realtor is enjoying the satisfaction and excitement of my clients at the closing table. Most importantly, I have found my work family. I have always heard people talk about this and never understood that feeling. In the past I had to pay bills so I worked, it was merely a way to make ends meet. Now it is so much more.
If you are thinking about getting into the Real Estate business, I would suggest first contacting someone you know in Real Estate and asking questions. Many Realtor’s including myself will offer an opportunity to job shadow. Real Estate is definitely for me but it may not be for everyone!
